2018 Marin Fairfax SC 2. Nice ride, definitely a step up from the bike that got stolen. And 25% off - summer is ending and the 2019s are coming!
The bike will be ready Tuesday end of day, I’m off on Wednesday so I’ll pick it up then. Not sure how I’ll survive 2 more days... I miss riding! Let’s hope f or rain, I guess...

How much did that cost? Currently my ride is a 32 year old Schwinn, as my son has taken to riding my newer bike.

With 25% off, $585 Canadian plus tax. I’d have had a hard time paying the full price, especially since our sales tax is ~ 15%.

Nice choice. The previous version came with 700x35 tires, so you may ha ve some extra room for bigger tires and/or fenders.

The 700x32 are a good size, there is plenty of room for fenders, but I doubt I’ll add any.
I tried the SC base model and it was ok, but the cheap tires were awful and the rest of the equipment was ok, about equivalent of what I had before. The SC 2, however, was a blast.
I tried a few bikes with discs and came away unimpressed. I'll stick to the V brakes and keep my money for beer!

My favorite accessory is a good set of fenders. It came from commuting in Texas where lots of people water their lawns. It never failed, there was always water on the road. The only way to avoid a daily skunk stripe was to either go super slow or install a set of fenders. I chose the latter.
Although I don’t commute by bike any more, my primary ride still sports fenders. As for brakes, this one is sporting a set of old-school cantilevers, but the frame is disc-ready and I’ll get it converted one of these days.
